[Anybody who's been here as long as they have gets used to it. The lead up to the jump, how it's this weird blend of terrifying and utterly routine. She's got her system in place (which mostly consists of moving at least her gun and her knife to her locker so she's got them within range if things go to shit right out of the gate) and it helps to have that routine, but it doesn't do anything to damp down the anxiety. Stop her looking at the faces of the people she knows and wondering how many of them are still going to be around when she wakes up.

On second thoughts, there aren't very many people who've been here as long as they have. Which really, just proves her point.

Still. She's already had more than enough of waking up in the jump bay to find someone missing and find herself crushed by the if-onlys. If only I'd said this, if only I'd done that. In theory she knows that any of those little things wouldn't have made it easier to deal with the loss. In practice - well, that's harder.

So: she sets her alarm early (early for her, which is to say... not at early at all), showers. Makes sure her hair is both clean and cute. Doesn't put on any makeup, because if this goes to plan it'll get smeared anyway, but she does wear a dress. And then she's letting herself into his room just when - if she's timed it right - he should be waking up, sneaking over to sit on the edge of his bed.]

Hello friends! Better people than I can the brilliant idea of making a post to give an assortment of memories to choose from, and I am shamelessly thieving the idea. But first a quick explanation: As of the end of Silent Hill 3, Heather has memories of being three separate people. She was first Alessa Gillespie, then Alessa Gillespie AND Cheryl Mason working with half a soul each, and then a new-and-improved Cheryl Mason with a whole soul who later had her name changed to Heather, who for simplicity's sake I will just call Heather.

I could explain why, but it won't make it sound any less stupid. Feel free to ask for any clarifications you may want on either the situation or the memories, though!

ANYWAY the reason I point this out is that there will be certain memories in which she'll be called by different names, so there's essentially no way your character would figure out it was her unless she happened to pass a mirror and they're perceptive enough to recognize that the little dark-haired seven-year-old they're seeing is the blond 22-year-old on the ship. And if they can that's fine! Alessa can kill people with her brain, I'm in no position to judge.

To assist I will sort memories by which version it's associated with. There will also be content warnings, because

Thoughts, feelings and sensations
an attempt to make this a little more reader-friendly

IN GENERAL

-A persistent expectation that the worst will happen, and the probably-unjustified belief that she and her friends will be equal to it.

-A tendency to experience emotions in extreme. If she's happy she's elated, and probably needs to tell someone about it. If she's sad she's crushed. Threaten her or her loved ones? BLOOD VENDETTA.

-Acts on impulse, doesn't think too hard about consequences.

-Runs her mouth when she's flustered or tired. This is unfortunate because she also likes to exercise a lot of control over what information she shares with people :|

-Fidgetiness if not occupied, a general need to be doing something.

CURRENTLY

-Experiencing deep emotional lows relating to the loss of Alex Shepherd and Soysauce at the October jump.

-Resulting fierce protectiveness and affection towards Takeshi and Netherlands, and to a lesser extent Russia, Murphy Pendleton, and Asato.

-Running on caffeine. Anything beyond headaches if she doesn't drink coffee almost first thing in the morning is psychosomatic, but she'll feel sluggish and dumbed-down without regular infusions.

-Last jump she did a dumb experiment to see if the ship would let her starve to death, since nobody seems to have died of starvation while lost. Answer: yes, it almost certainly would, but as a result she's caught between wanting to eat everything (massive, MASSIVE cheeseburger cravings here) and not being able to stomach very much in a sitting.

-She's in loooove. Struggling with some aspects of it, which is exacerbated by the fact that Netherlands spent the last month in a pod-coma, but very much in love and therefore occasionally subject to fits of dreaminess. ~~She tries to keep those to herself because They Are Gross.~~

Good memories:

ALESSA:

-Playing with her (only) childhood friend Claudia Wolf. Claudia is pale with long, straight blond hair and about three years younger than Alessa. Because they were both children of the cult, “playing” is likely to consist of reading weird religious texts to each other or drawing pictures that represent virtuous behaviour, things like that.

-A nurse talking kindly to her while she's in a hospital bed in a dark room, administering intravenous painkillers. Yes, that counts as a good memory for her.

CHERYL:

-Feel free to make up happy, normal childhood memories! The Masons were actually pretty good parents. The only catches here are that her mother should not appear after she's 3, and she fucking hates cows. I don't know why. I didn't write it.

-If you particularly like ~*~foreboding~*~ you can have seven-year-old Cheryl all buckled in for a long car trip with Harry. Aww, vacation time! That'll never end up awful.

HEATHER:

-DADTIMES! Reading with Harry, either sitting in his lap when she's very small or together on the sofa just reading their own books in quiet companionship. Harry cooking and Heather assisting by chopping vegetables or other busywork, which would occur in a poky little apartment kitchen with a 96% chance of a Rolling Stones backing track. Roadtrips with Harry, just talking and joking with each other on long car journeys. Just because they're on the run doesn't mean she can't enjoy it.

-Being a mildly delinquent teen up on an overlook with a small number of friends, smoking and drinking cheap and unadvisable spirits from the bottle but not actually getting into any real trouble

-Christmas dinner in a crappy diner with Douglas, post Harry's death, both of them rigorously avoiding talking about Silent Hill and drinking too much terrible coffee

-Looking over community college info with a brunette woman of about 24, both of them bundled up in a blanket on the sofa and bein' gross at each other (spoilers that school thing is never going to happen)

-Tillman teaching her how to clean a gun or do self-defense type stuff, or telling stories about Being In The Army and a guy called Scotch being a general ratbag

-Kitten climbing into her bed and talking bollocks, or trying to give her a makeover

-Netherlands giving her a bigass bunch of tulips because he can't use his words.

-Or any other CR related stuff you might like to use, hit me up~

Bad Memories:

ALESSA:

- This scene, in which her mother is trying to convince her to willingly participate in cult rituals and she refuses, expressing a desire for a normal life. This does not turn out the way she hoped.

- Freaking out and turning the world to shit, potentially interesting for anyone who was around during the Silent Hill plot but still doesn't know Heather was responsible

cw: body horror, child abuse for the following

-The ritual used to impregnate her with the cult's God when she was seven. Being strapped to a table, sinister chanting, pain that she doesn't understand, followed by the awareness of something wrong being alive inside her

-Sustaining horrific burns in a housefire lit by her mother

-Being immobile in a hospital bed in a room she's never able to leave, in a great deal of pain from the burns, occasionally experiencing horrific trips due to being dosed with hallucinogens by her “carers”

CHERYL:

-Her mother's death when she was three – too young to really understand, but being upset and confused by the fact that her father is crying and understanding that she won't see her mother again

-Her father swerving to avoid hitting someone standing in the middle of the road and crashing the car

HEATHER:

-A man trying to abduct her from her home when she was seven and her father killing him (note that he'll call her Cheryl at this point)

-Meeting Claudia

-Dr Crane asking her increasingly unprofessional questions about Silent Hill and the way it makes people live through their fears, getting the sense that he's doing so for voyeuristic purposes

-Being possessed during the Supernatural plot and having to watch as the demon convinced Tillman Heather's body was now occupied by his wife.

-Finding her father's body and the subsequent shitty decision to go to Silent Hill for revenge

-Becoming aware she's carrying the God, physical sensations of intense headaches and nausea, violent cramps (think the worst period pains you've ever had dialed up to 11)

-Creepy darkside version of herself trying to “end her suffering”. With death, of course.

-Giving herself a mystical home abortion and watching Claudia try to take over and die horribly for her troubles, thus robbing Heather of her revenge

-Being attacked by any of these, and as a side note she's got scar tissue above one wrist from being bitten there by a Double Head.

[It's not her kitchen, or his either, but they know exactly how to get there and once they do they know exactly where everything is because they're all exactly the same and there's something depressing about that. She sits, but only for a second before she's up again and moving to make coffee. It seems like a good idea. The stuff here is so bad it barely tastes better than instant but it's the ritual of it she wants more than the actual drink, measuring coffee into the filter and adding water so she doesn't have to look at Asato while she says:]

Fourthwalling: I'm fine with it; Heather will think the character is nuts (or form a lifelong desire to tase them, Silverton).
Offensive subjects: I don't have any particular triggers or hot-button topics that would make me mad when presented IC-ly.

Hugging this character: is okay but won't be well received unless she already knows and trusts the hugger.
Kissing this character: again, it's fine by me but is a horrible idea unless they are already clearly headed in that direction/have that sort of relationship already established. I'm playing her with some body autonomy issues as a result of the whole demon pregnancy deal; the very least a character can expect for a surprise kiss is a hard shove away.
Flirting with this character: go nuts. She won't take it seriously and in all likelihood will flirt right back. It's one of her diversionary tactics. Unless they're flirting for realsies, in which case expect a healthy dose of awkward because she has no game.
Fighting with this character: verbally, always welcome. Physically, best discussed beforehand. She's scrappy and I'm open, but as she's generally armed with a knife at minimum and wouldn't hesitate to use it if attacked, I'd like a chance to formulate an IC reason for her not to resort to that. Of course, if your goal is to get your character stabbed... fun times all around?
Injuring this character: is fine, but be aware that a) she's bolshy and would retaliate, and b) her neighbour/Spacedad is a sheer wall of muscle and frowns and would probably have Something To Say About That.
Killing this character: nooooo. If you have a super amazing idea hit me up and we can discuss?
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: Heather's pretty transparent even to characters with no psychic ability. Have at it, but be aware she won't take it well if she realises what they're doing.

Warnings:

Because Heather is taken just over 2 years post-canon for Silent Hill 3, any conversations with her about her past which she actually takes seriously are going to be spoiler-fests for both Silent Hill 3 and the original Silent Hill.

Heather's unwilling role as the Mother of God and her tendency to snark around issues she's uncomfortable with means that if discussing her past she'll be describing things that have an element of body horror about them (Rosemary's Baby style, not Akira style) and may make somewhat glib remarks about abortion/miscarriage. I can certainly avoid that approach but if the subject itself is triggering, best to avoid characters discussing it with her.

She's also got some pretty salty language going a lot of the time.
